Alfonso started playing piano and saxophone through the school band and private instruction. He found his inspiration to play drums in high school by becoming part of the drumline. Furthering his music education at the university level, he received a bachelor’s degree at Florida State University and a master’s degree from Florida International University. Throughout his musical career, Alfonso has performed in various venues and festivals locally and around Florida.

As a composer, some of Alfonso’s main influences are John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Chick Corea and many others. As a solo artist, he released a drumless track record titled "Nebulla" and a single titled "Nova" in 2022. His music is compiled of various genres that range from his latin heritage to jazz, fusion, gospel, hip hop and RnB.

complexity, global influences, and modern groove. Led by drummer, composer, and arranger Alfonso

Velasco, VISIONS fuses elements of jazz, hip-hop, funk, Afro-Latin, soul, and world music into a

cohesive and refreshing sonic experience. With each performance and recording, the band strives to blur

genre boundaries and create music that speaks across cultures and generations.

At the heart of VISIONS is a commitment to storytelling through rhythm and harmony. Alfonso’s

compositions reflect a deep reverence for the traditions of jazz and world music, while simultaneously

In 2022, VISIONS released their self-titled EP, which showcased the group’s signature blend of global

rhythms, improvisational interplay, and lush arrangements. The EP was met with enthusiasm from

audiences establishing the band as a voice in the modern fusion landscape.

Building on that momentum, the band released their full-length debut album, Elevation, in 2023, now

available on all major streaming platforms. Elevation takes listeners on a dynamic musical journey,

exploring themes of growth, unity, and transcendence through a masterful integration of styles. From

explosive rhythmic passages to introspective melodic moments, the album encapsulates VISIONS’

mission to push boundaries while staying deeply connected to musical roots.
